Just got this lens last month out of the 1st shipment from B&H. Really liking the lens although it did need some Micro Adjustments.
Thanks so much for your comments on the Tamron and for sharing your photos. They've convinced me that I've made the right choice in ordering one. This new Tamron has become a little difficult to get since Outdoor Photography did a great review of it. I'll be using it on the Canon 6D for safari shooting. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I want to get the best photos I can within reason. I especially appreciate that you post your settings with all your photos. I learned a great deal just by considering why you used each. I still have so much to learn!
Thanks a lot for sharing these pictures. I'm strongly considering the 150-600 primarily for the extra reach. I too own a 100-400 which is quite sharp. I'm impressed with the sharp images the Tamron can produce. Although since my camera is the Canon 7D I have some concern regarding the AI Servo focus issues. It may end up not mattering because there seems to be a sudden stop in production of the Tamron. From what I'm reading it seems that Tamron may have stopped shipping them possibly because they are attempting to fix the problem. BandH is taking preorders only. Some say they ordered it back in February and are still waiting. So you keep posting your pictures here and I'll check back often. Thanks again.
Don, nice images and I'm glad you're happy with your Tamron 150-600. I, like you, have the Canon 100-400 which is rarely used as well as the Sigma 150-500. My partner prefers the Sigma and I like the Tamron so I guess it works out well.
I'm at Bosque del Apache NWR most every winter. I do a 3 day workshop there in November. If you ever have the desire to come and join us, drop me a line. We always enjoy company. My website is naturephotoworks.com
